This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of ITV News’s YouTube output. The successful candidate will work primarily curating and curating content for YouTube with a focus on growing the audience.
The successful candidate will be a creative journalist with excellent editorial judgement, experience in first-class YouTube production and the skills to operate in a fast-moving, cross-platform newsroom.
Key Responsibilities
1. Optimise thumbnails, headlines and metadata to maximise discoverability and engagement for ITV News content on YouTube
2. Produce, curate and publish engaging video content for the ITV News’s YouTube channels
3. Generate original ideas for YouTube-first content, including high-end explainers, live streams, and new formats
4. Work with the Head of Streaming and YouTube Channel Manager to monitor YouTube analytics and audience insights to shape editorial decisions and inform future commissioning
5. Work closely with TV, digital and newsgathering teams to identify stories that will resonate on YouTube
6. Collaborate with producers, editors, correspondents and reporters across the newsroom
7. Work on producing content for ITVX and ITV News socials where required
8. Work on ITV News TV programmes and newsgathering where required
9. Uphold editorial, legal and Ofcom compliance across all output

Key Requirements
10. Proven experience creating high-quality content for YouTube for a major news or media organisation
11. Strong understanding of YouTube’s algorithms, analytics and audience growth strategies
12. Excellent journalistic judgement and knowledge of news and current affairs
13. Ability to edit video to a high standard, with strong scripting and headline-writing skills
14. Experience producing content for live streams and digital video platforms
15. Strong technical skills, including familiarity with video editing software and graphics
16. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom
17. Sound knowledge of Ofcom Broadcasting Code, legal compliance and editorial standards
18. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends and bank holidays when required
