Overview
The rotational post involves team management across the stroke and neuro rehab pathway. The service includes the Stroke Rehabilitation unit at Newton Abbot hospital, the acute stroke unit at Torbay hospital and the community neuro teams in South Devon which also incorporates ESD.
Locations
George Earle ward, Torbay Hospital, an acute stroke unit – responsibility over 28 beds covering stroke, neuro and general medical conditions.
Templer ward, Newton Abbot Hospital, a Stroke and Neuro Rehab unit, responsible for 20 beds (stroke and neuro), providing post-acute inpatient neuro rehabilitation and complex discharge planning.
The Community neuro rehabilitation team covers the Torbay and South Devon patches reaching from Dawlish to Dartmouth.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a high standard of occupational service to people presenting with stroke and other neurological conditions in the inpatient units, community or as outpatients, including the early supported discharge service. Role will rotate across different parts of the pathway.
* Working alongside other Band 7 Occupational and Physiotherapy staff to provide clinical and operational leadership to the team, including chairing case conferences, leading on complex discharge planning, management of patient flow, and staff deployment.
* To lead the development of services including implementation of work assessing demand and capacity to ensure maximum efficiency of the team, and use of a strengths-based approach in all aspects of care.
