Operations Manager (Conference and Events) - Newmarket and Huntingdon Racecourses
Full‑time, permanent position.
Salary: up to £33,000 plus excellent benefits, including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.
Responsibilities
* Manage the allocated causal team members to set up and break down meeting rooms and deliver live conference and events
* Review the weekly payroll and assist the management of the variable payroll to achieve financial targets while meeting operational needs
* Act as a central point of contact for C&E operational queries
* Attend all regular meetings and briefings to ensure regular communication with all stakeholders
* Develop a good working relationship with the Hospitality team based at Newmarket
* Use function sheets to gather customer expectations, room set‑up and menu requirements
* Work with the chef team to ensure all special diets and allergens are managed on live event days
* Ensure all H&S policy and procedures are followed
* Support the People Operations team in recruitment, selection, induction and retention practices for the C&E department
* Take the lead for C&E team welfare and engagement activities
* Generate and cost new “look and feel” ideas to uplift service styles for C&E
Qualifications
* Some experience delivering live conferences, meetings and events
* A positive, approachable and troubleshooting attitude
* Strong organisation, communication and computer skills
* The ability to communicate at all levels and meet deadlines
* A self‑starter; motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
