Exciting Opportunity: Postgraduate training in Psychological Therapies for CYP with Autism and/or Learning Disability - Fully Funded Programme. One permanent role across Devon to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies for CYP with Autism and/or Learning Disability through a fully funded 1-year programme with the University of Exeter. After completing the training, the postholder will continue to work with us as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner in the integrated Neurodiversity Pathway across Devon.
What We Offer
* Fully funded 1-year Postgraduate Diploma programme through the University of Exeter. Permanent contract from day one. Continued employment as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner after completing the programme.
Responsibilities
* The CYP with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a Learning Disability Postgraduate Diploma programme involves academic learning, coursework and supervised clinical practice.
* Work with colleagues in a specialist CFHD pathway, building relationships and wider skills in working with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs in the community.
* Engage in evidence-based assessment and outcome-monitored interventions in conjunction with the training.
* As part of the Neurodiversity Pathway, provide specialist assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Contribute to service development and to service delivery within the team.
* Manage a defined caseload with focus on assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment for children and young people with autism and/or learning disability, including support for parents/carers to manage behaviour that challenges in line with NICE guidance.
* Collaborate with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies in a multi-disciplinary setting.
* Contribute to multi-disciplinary team work and provide supervision/consultation/advice to others.
* Participate in audit, evaluation and service improvement to ensure high quality, safe and compassionate care for children and young people.
Qualifications and Eligibility
* A professional qualification at degree level or equivalent e.g. Psychological profession, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent.
* Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP).
* Significant experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health of children and young people or families.
* Basic level of clinical competence and experience with children/young people with Autism and/or Learning Disability for a substantial period.
* Please note the diploma does not currently offer a KSA route to CBT accreditation or professional registration.
* Must be able to balance a busy work and study schedule; study time is typically two days per week during term.

Additional information
Successful applicants will be employed by Devon Partnership NHS Trust and enrolled on the HEE funded CYP with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Learning Disability Diploma at Exeter University. Training positions are dependent on gaining employment in a CFHD SMHP role and acceptance onto the University Course. Applicants should be available to start by January 2025.
