The HBPoS provides a place of safety for those detained under S135 and S136 of the Mental Health Act. The service provides a safe place for those detained to be assessed by the HBPoS team, S12 approved doctors and AMHP. The post holder will provide care, support and assessments of all clients who enter the HBPoS.
The HBPoS is a nursing led service which provides intensive support, treatment and care for up to 24 hours for people who are deemed to be experiencing a mental health crisis.
We aim to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with both internal and external parties to ensure we provide comprehensive and holistic care to our service users in the short amount of time we have.
* To accept S136/S135 paperwork from police/AMHP and ensure all information is accurate and that you have received a comprehensive handover.
* To provide holistic nursing care to clients including physical assessments, risk assessments, mental state assessments, intensive interventions to highly distressed individuals and complete relevant assessment tools.
* To gather collateral information on clients from GP, community teams, liaison with other trusts and family and friends if possible.
* Appropriately manage highly emotional, verbally aggressive, abusive or threatening clients and defuse such situations when appropriate, often under difficult and hostile circumstances.
* Provide guidance and support to junior members of staff.
* Support with quality improvement in the service
* To make decisions autonomously to improve patient care and experience and maintain safety
