Social Media Manager – Independent Christmas Short Film
Unpaid (collaborative project) – Remote / Flexible
We are a small creative team currently producing an independent Christmas short film with big ambitions. Our goal is to grow a strong online presence ahead of the film's release next year, so that when it premieres, it already has a dedicated following and momentum behind it.
We're looking for a Social Media Manager
to join the team and take ownership of our online presence from the ground up. This is an opportunity to showcase your creativity and strategy skills, build a case study for your portfolio, and be part of a project aiming for film festivals, awards submissions, TV pitching, and even cross-media opportunities with publishers.
What you'll do:
* Develop and execute a social media strategy to build anticipation for the film's release.
* Create, schedule, and manage engaging content (posts, reels, stories, etc.) across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube Shorts—wherever you shine most).
* Grow and engage a following by building a consistent brand voice and style.
* Collaborate with the director, producer, and creative team to generate behind-the-scenes content and storytelling angles.
* Spot trends and opportunities to help the project gain traction and visibility.
* (Bonus) Reach out to or collaborate with influencers who might be excited to help promote the film.
What we're looking for:
* Someone passionate about film, storytelling, and social media.
* Experience managing social accounts (personal or professional) and growing a following.
* Creative eye for content (video editing, memes, captions, design—whatever tools you use to make a feed come alive).
* Self-starter attitude — you'll be leading the social direction.
* Existing connections with influencers (big or small) who could help promote the film is a
major plus
.
What you'll get:
* A chance to be the
voice of the film online
, from its early days to its release.
* Creative freedom to shape and grow a brand-new account.
* Credit as Social Media Manager on the film and promotional materials.
* Experience you can leverage for your portfolio, with real traction and measurable growth to show future clients/employers.
* The excitement of joining a passion project aiming for festivals, awards, and commercial opportunities.
This role is
unpaid for now
(all of us are working on this as a collaborative effort), but we're aiming high — with the goal of the film being shared widely, entered into festivals, pitched to TV companies, and developed into a broader creative property.
* If you're looking for a creative side project where your work will make a real impact, and you'd love to build a following for a heartwarming Christmas story, we'd love to hear from you.
