One of our flagship contracts is with the Ministry of Defence at a major base near Watford – a complex, high-profile environment where we provide a full range of hard, soft, and technical FM services.
We’re now seeking a M&E Shift Technician To deliver the safe operation, maintenance and repair of the site electrical / mechanical / building services plant & equipment in support of the maintenance of the site under the terms of the Northwood PFI contract.
The role is part of the Shift Team at Northwood and the operative will be required to work 12 hour day/night shifts in a 28 day cycle (14 shifts, 14 rest days). Full shift pattern available on request. The operative will also be expected to participate in the wider site maintenance and reactive tasks beyond the NCC complex. Regular overtime may be required to support the 24/7 shift team to cover annual leave, sickness and training.
As a M&E Shift Technician - You Will :
1. Perform planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance tasks and reactive works investigations/repairs on, but not limited to, the Low Voltage electrical systems, building services, fire and security, BMS and HVAC systems on site
2. Service, test, diagnose and repair process control systems and automatic control devices related to the building services plant and equipment
3. Liaise / assist with other services as necessary for the efficient delivery of work activities, workmanship and productivity to comply with the performance standards
4. Use provided test and monitoring equipment for the purpose of maintaining engineering system operational performance and to aid fault diagnostics and repair, interrogate and adjust systems to maintain correct operation of plant and equipment
5. Interrogate and adjust systems to maintain correct operation of plant and equipment
6. Carry out electrical, mechanical and system checks associated with maintaining a compliant environment in the relevant areas in accordance with current legislation
7. Carry out Skilled Person duties as required for the engineering services on site in compliance with JSP375 Volume 3 as applicable, including preparation of installations for others
8. Where required undertake and implement minor capital works projects
M&E Shift Technician - Skills /Experience required :
9. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent (including recognised apprenticeship) with either an electrical or building services bias
10. Working knowledge of other building services and trades
11. Excellent team working and problem solving capabilities
12. Must be able to fully satisfy the Client security clearance minimum requirements (SC)
13. Experience of Engineering Services Maintenance
14. Qualification and experience in Periodic Inspections
15. Experience of complex electrical installations including UPS and Generators
16. Experience of large complex HVAC, BMS and refrigeration plant and equipment
17. Happy to work rotating day and night shifts
This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
