Workshop Leader – Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication
Location: Thatcham, Berkshire, UK
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, daytime between 6am – 6pm)

The Role
We are seeking a proactive Workshop Leader to oversee day-to-day activities on our shop floor. You'll be responsible for coordinating workflows, distributing job cards, and ensuring all production meets deadlines and quality standards.
This role is pivotal in keeping our workshop running smoothly and efficiently. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager, Leadership Team, and works team, ensuring that every job is planned, executed, and delivered to exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Job Card Management: Allocate and review job cards, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
* Workflow Coordination: Plan and monitor production schedules, resolving any bottlenecks.
* Team Leadership: Assign tasks, provide support, and lead informal check-ins with the workshop team.
* Production Oversight: Ensure all jobs are completed accurately, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
* Health & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workshop environment.
* Liaison: Work closely with management and other leaders to align timelines and priorities.
* Staff Development: Identify training needs and encourage cross-training for flexibility within the team.
* Reporting: Provide regular updates to the General Manager on progress, challenges, and staff performance.
* Equipment Management: Ensure all machinery and tools are well-maintained and operational.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Full UK driving licence.
* Engineering or Fabrication certification OR extensive relevant experience.
* Ability to read and interpret fabrication and/or engineering drawings.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or A Levels in Maths & English).
* Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Desirable:
* FLT licence (Forklift Truck).
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, organised, and a natural leader, with the ability to manage a busy workshop and motivate a skilled team.
Working Hours
* Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, between 6am and 6pm).
* Flexibility required to meet workload demands and client needs.
* Additional hours may be required – with either payment or time off in lieu (at the discretion of the General Manager).
