Job Title: Mechanical Fitter \n Location: Manchester International Depot\n Contract Type: 13-Week Contract (Start Date: 26th May)\n Working Hours: Day Shift | Monday to Friday | 50 Hours/Week\n Pay Rate: £30 per hour, paid via LTD company and outside IR35.\n\nJoin a major UK Train Operating Company delivering a final phase of digital enhancements to their Class 323 fleet.\n\nGanymede Solutions is working in partnership with a leading Train Operating Company to recruit experienced Mechanical Fitters for a focused 13-week upgrade programme at Manchester International Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a high-value digitalisation project, enhancing onboard passenger equipment across the fleet.\n\nAs a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in the mechanical installation of onboard digital systems, ensuring consistent technology integration across the entire fleet. This is an ideal role for experienced fitters with a strong background in rolling stock and a passion for quality, safety, and teamwork.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n • Carry out mechanical fitting of digital passenger systems, including Wi-Fi, CCTV, USB charging points, and information displays\n • Interpret and follow detailed modification and installation instructions for interior systems\n • Use a variety of mechanical fitting tools to install equipment safely and precisely\n • Collaborate closely with the wider engineering team to complete tasks to specification and schedule\n • Accurately record work completed and report any issues, tooling needs, or material shortages\n • Work safely within a busy rail depot environment and adhere to all safety protocols\n\nThe ideal candidate will have:\n • A Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or related trades \n • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the rolling stock industry \n • Strong mechanical fitting skills with the ability to follow modification instructions and technical drawings\n • A proactive approach to supporting team progress, communicating clearly, and escalating challenges where necessary\n • The ability to pass a Medical and Drugs & Alcohol test \n • Right to Work documentation prepared for pre-employment compliance\n • A flexible, reliable, and safety-conscious work ethic\n\nHow to Apply:\n If this sounds like your next project, we’d love to hear from you.
