We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Nurse to lead/join our Healthcare Service at YOI Feltham A.
YOI Feltham A is the only young offenders facility in the south of England and holds young males aged 15-19 years old. All staff work in line with 'Child First' principles to create a developmentally appropriate and trauma‑informed healthcare service.

We have a Health and Justice Services Directorate, within which sits the 'Children and Young People' Service line working in partnership with 'Youth Custody Service' colleagues to provide responsive, trauma‑informed primary care, mental health, neuro‑developmental and substance misuse services to the young people and young adults within our care.
Main duties of the job
Work closely with the children who use our services, their families, friends & carers and make an important contribution to how children experience our services.
Provide a comprehensive school nursing service and work as part of an integrated healthcare service which includes primary care, mental health, substance misuse and a sexual behaviour service.
Expected to be kind, responsive yet professional and informative and to contribute to the quality of the services we provide by:
* keeping the children who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills & effective risk assessments
* ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up‑to‑date skills & adhering to evidence‑based policies & procedures
* ensuring the children using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering & working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process
We believe that the best health care is delivered by multidisciplinary teams working well together & in partnership with other teams & services to provide seamless care.
Working as part of a team, you will contribute to the success of the team by being an effective role model & supervising Band 5 nurses, support workers & students to ensure they are working to the standards that the children using our services deserve.

The postholder is expected to deliver trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive care, considering the developmental needs of the children & ensuring consideration of the impact of their experiences on their current strengths, needs & difficulties.

Education and Qualifications
* Registered nurse—Adult / Child / Mental Health / Learning Disability
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nursing (SCPHN - SN) or willingness to work towards.
* Evidence of continual professional development
* Mentorship preparation or equivalent
* Further post‑registration training specific to candidate's background and experience; e.g. training in CAMHS models of care or in neuro‑developmental assessment
Previous Experience
* Proven post‑registration experience relevant to secure and/or educational settings.
* Experience of working with diverse communities.
* Experience of working with families in a professional capacity.
* Experience of conducting clinical audit activity.
* Experience working as part of an integrated team, alongside non‑health employed colleagues.
Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and different ages.
* Skills in communicating with and engaging children with complex needs.
