The correct candidate must be someone who can use their initiative whilst working on their own but also happy to work as part of a team. They must have excellent telephone manner as well as a professional attitude when customer facing.
Role requires suitably cleared individuals for the environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
* As an audio-visual engineer you will be expected to provide experience, knowledge, and advice on ongoing engineering practices in general, and the systems which have been designed for you to install and/or service. This includes any ideas you may have on how to improve service levels, whilst ensuring we operate in an efficient and cost effective manner.
* Part of the responsibilities will also include engineering support for office and field based sales and administration personnel.
* You will be expected to act as both an installation and service engineer, including administration wherever necessary.
* If technical skills allow now or in the future, we would offer training on system programming and commissioning as part of the development process.
* The role will be pre-dominantly field based, although there may be occasions where office based cover will be required.
* The office cover will include service department related duties including taking calls, qualifying faults, and administrating those calls wherever necessary.
* This will include regular communication with customers, suppliers, and service centres, to ensure a prompt, efficient, flexible, and friendly service process.
* You may be asked to provide assistance in setting up new organisational processes for both the installation and service department as part of the ongoing development of both departments but will be guided and assisted at all times by senior operational staff.
* Occasionally there may be a requirement to assist the Operations Department with general warehouse duties whilst in the office. This may include the preparation and testing of kit for installations.
* As Excel AV develops, we may expect to recruit junior engineering personnel to assist you in your day to day tasks. Although those members of staff could report to the same Manager as you initially, we would expect you to offer supervision and advice wherever possible, with the potential to take over their day to day management in the future.
* The role will involve a large element of travelling as we provide national and international coverage. If this is the case all travel, accommodation and expenses would be covered by the company, but it may mean that overnight stays are required, which would be agreed beforehand with sufficient discussion and notice.
* We would expect a certain amount of self-management and initiative both on-site and off. This will include fault finding, problem solving and customer facing decision making wherever necessary.
* There will always be advice, training, and management available, however as fellow members of the organisation we pride ourselves on being able to operate with an element of independence and discipline, especially during busier times.
* The role is very much customer focused and we would expect correct and suitable levels of behaviour accordingly. This includes personal presentation, on-site cleanliness, and a professional attitude at all times. We have worked hard to establish a reputation as a flexible and friendly organisation with a can do attitude, and we would very much like this to continue.
* As highlighted above the role will develop as the company grows and there is real potential for positive change and personal development, however, any significant changes will of course be discussed and agreed in line with the Job Description.
* A company vehicle (van) will be provided with a fuel card, or a car allowance depending on preference.
* All relevant training, tools and materials will be provided to allow the various roles and responsibilities to be carried out.
* Regular reviews will be held to ensure all parties agree to all the above on a regular ongoing basis.
* A company handbook will be provided to clarify and expand upon all expectations.
