Job Description
We are seeking experienced Project Managers in Manchester to develop their career into a senior position. Working on a range of leading infrastructure projects, we support you within transportation, utilities and highway projects.
Main Purpose of Role
* Lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end‑to‑end service delivery, often with respect to large or complex projects.
* Act as the key day‑to‑day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
Scope
Senior Project Managers handle commissions of varying sizes. Projects typically fall within the £10m to £25m range, though advisory services may involve larger overall project sizes.
Key Accountabilities
* Advising at a strategic level at the project inception stage, including providing advice on different approaches to achieve client objectives.
* Preparing and maintaining definitions of project requirements.
* Establishing overall success criteria, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
* Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems.
* Preparing and maintaining schedules of activity, including producing the master project plan.
* Managing the development of the project in accordance with approved plans and targets.
* Developing and implementing resource plans and procurement of resources.
* Leading and facilitating the overall cross‑functional project team.
* Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including KPI use to improve performance.
* Managing the change control process.
* Developing and agreeing budgets and controlling forecast and actual costs.
* Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client.
* Identifying and monitoring project risks and planning risk mitigations.
* Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
* Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client, other consultants, and managing stakeholders at all project stages.
* Advising the client regarding Health & Safety and Environmental issues and risks.
* Planning for and ongoing management of quality, safety, health and environment issues.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering.
* Experience on large scheme projects (£100m plus).
* NEC: ECC Project Manager accreditation.
* Preferred if chartered/qualified with ICE, APM, RICS etc.
Key Performance Indicators
* Projects managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently, on time and to budget.
* Project delivery meets client objectives and aligns with conditions of appointment.
* Project team is led effectively.
* Strong relationships developed with clients and cross‑functional team members.
* General line management responsibilities discharged effectively.
* Business development opportunities identified and acted upon.
* Internal financial status of all projects monitored effectively.
* Key information and data cascaded and retained appropriately.
