Job Opportunity: Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeons at Pride Veterinary Referrals
Pride Veterinary Referrals is excited to announce a new opening for Out of Hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeons with a passion for Emergency & Critical Care to join our team on a 12-month FTC.
Working on a 3-week rota, you will be one of the overnight vets caring for referral patients. Collaborating with night nurses, veterinary care assistants, and the first opinion night vet, you will follow treatment plans provided by the Specialist Case Clinician and seek advice from the On Call Clinician when needed.
You will serve as the point of contact for referring vets seeking out-of-hours referrals and will admit referral cases arriving OOH. Clear communication during handovers and updates on patient status are essential.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside Specialist Diplomat-led teams, developing your knowledge across various specialties, with flexibility on interests and preferred shifts.
Work with Advanced Facilities
Our hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including consultation rooms, hospital wards, theatres, advanced imaging (CT, MRI), ultrasound, interventional radiology, endoscopy, hydrotherapy, and chemotherapy rooms. Located near Derby city centre with excellent transport links, we are close to the Peak District and collaborate with the University of Nottingham.
Out of Hours Support
You will work with our experienced Vets at Night teams, providing support for referral services in Neurology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Exotics, and Oncology, supported by skilled Nurses and Care Assistants. The current schedule is 7 nights on, 14 nights off, with flexible arrangements available.
Candidate Profile
Experience in OOH or rotating internships is advantageous but not essential. We value candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment with a commitment to first-class patient care.
