We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Rheumatology Specialist Nurse to deliver expert care for patients with rheumatology conditions across our Trust. The post is aimed at further developing nurse led care and provision of services for patients seen in the rheumatology department at all 3 sites of Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust.
We are looking for a nurse who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a small, friendly multi-disciplinary team with a focus on providing holistic, evidence based and cost effective care.
Whilst previous rheumatology experience is desirable, we would welcome applications from experienced specialist nurses who would like to progress to the next level and have a keen interest in self development and caring for patients with inflammatory arthritis and auto-immune conditions.
This is a full -time post, consideration will also be given to applicants who wish to work part time hours.
Main duties of the job
The post involves the assessment, monitoring and treatment provision for patients with inflammatory diseases. This involves the care of patients who require disease modifying anti-rheumatic medications, biologic therapies and care of patients with osteoporosis.
The main duties of the post include medication counselling, assessment of disease in nurse led clinics, drug monitoring database, osteoporosis clinics as well as administering intravenous and subcutaneous medications.
Additional management roles including leading and developing specific pathways of care and protocols, managing staff through appraisals, sickness absence and supporting and development of the team
The non-medical prescribing course is a requirement for the post. If not currently held, then a commitment to undertake the course is essential.
SACT qualification is also required or a commitment to undertake this to support patients who require administration of specific chemotherapy drugs for rheumatological conditions.

Education, qualification and training

11. BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
12. Your professional knowledge acquired at degree level will be supplemented by specialist training, experience, and short courses to Masters level equivalent
13. Post-registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or equivalent post qualification experience

16. Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivered effective patient focussed care
