About the Child
Harry is a bright and engaging 5-year-old with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He uses a wheelchair full time and is dependent on caregivers for care needs. He enjoys books, arcades, fast rides, bright lights, and the bustle of family life. He is cognitively alert and can become frustrated if not understood; he is starting full-time at Pace Centre School (Conductive Education).
The Role at a Glance
Harry will be dressed and ready for pick-up each morning. The role includes driving Harry and his Gran to school on designated mornings and collecting him at 2:00 pm, then helping him settle in at home by 4:00 pm. On Fridays, a longer shift is required to accompany Harry and his Gran to Hippotherapy (9:00 am – 10:30 am), with return home and settled-in by 12 noon. Initially, you will support his Gran in getting Harry to and from school safely with a collaborative approach; there may be increased involvement over time.
