Ingenieur is a progressive subcontract engineering company who are firmly established as a key supplier of precision engineered products to many high technology companies, both locally and internationally.
Accredited to AS9100 and ISO9001 our experience, expertise and efficient approach have ensured us to become a trusted name throughout Southern England, with a solid reputation for quality work and a professional service.
Operating from our bespoke 12000 sq./ft facility in Chandlers Ford we offer CNC Turning and 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC Milling services, supplying precision machined components to the Aerospace, Defence, Medical and commercial industries. Familiarity with these industries will be a strong asset for the successful candidate.
We are currently entering an exciting phase at Ingenieur as we focus on expanding and improving our offline programming capabilities. To support this growth, we are seeking a proactive and skilled 5-Axis Offline Programmer who takes a hands-on approach when required. Ingenieur currently utilises OneCNC for offline programming, although well developed we recognise the limitations of this software and we are prepared to make investments in either hyperMILL or Fusion 360. Candidates should have experience in post processor optimisation in one of these programs.
We have recently created a large, clean and tidy CAD programming office within our facility, benefitting from air-conditioning and easy access to our machinery.
Ingenieur has two Hermle 5 axis machines, one with 24 pallet HS flex system, it is our expectation that this hire will be predominantly required to program for these machines, but may be required to program for other machines within our factory.
In addition, as we are a AS9100 accredited company, manufacturing parts for the Aerospace, defence and commercial industries, an understanding of the AS9100 requirements during the manufacturing process would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming & Technical Expertise
· Develop offline CNC programs for complex 5-axis machining operations using CAD CAM software. Experience of hyperMILL or Fusion 360 is necessary and OneCNC is desirable.
· Interpret 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to generate efficient toolpaths.
· Define machining strategies and select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tolerances to optimise cycle times and surface finish.
· Simulate and verify toolpaths to prevent collisions and ensure part accuracy prior to production.
· Familiarity with Heidenhain control system is crucial.
Machine Setup Support
· Collaborate with machinists and shop floor staff to validate programs during initial setups and resolve any on-machine issues.
· Provide setup sheets, tool lists, and fixture instructions for production use.
· Assist in proving out new programs and implementing changes based on machine behaviour or material characteristics. This may involve elements of setting.
Process Optimisation
· Continuously improve CNC programs for efficiency, repeatability, and cost reduction. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles is desirable.
· Identify opportunities for automation, better tooling, or advanced machining techniques
· Reduce scrap and rework by ensuring high-quality output from the first part.
Collaboration & Communication
· Work closely with production planners, and quality inspectors to ensure quality and delivery targets are met.
· Assist with quotations and job cycle time estimation.
· Ability to train or mentor junior programmers or apprentices.
Compliance & Safety
· Ensure all programming complies with company and industry quality standards, tolerances, and safety requirements.
· Follow best practices for material handling, machine operation, and software usage.
· Stay updated on new CAD/CAM software capabilities, CNC technologies, and industry trends.
· Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
