Position Description
* As lead manufacturing engineer you will assist the department manager in the day to day running of the production engineering team.
* Responsible for creating, improving and maintaining manufacturing processes.
* Provide production support and problem solve manufacturing issues.
* Support Sub-Contract team with technical liaison.
* Prepared to be flexible with working hours to suit the business needs.
* Work to tight deadlines to achieve on time delivery targets.
* Possess strong problem-solving and good communication skills.
* Work with Design Engineering on new product DFM.
* Ability to communicate and influence cross functional teams.
Responsibilities
* Drive improvements as part of continuous improvement culture.
* Supervise and mentor the junior members of team.
* Work in a safe manner in line with the companies Health and Safety policy.
* Ensure quality is maintained and processes are correctly implemented to company standards.
Essential Experience
* Experience of working in a busy production office environment.
* Previous experience of working with super alloys, castings and composites.
* Ideally Apprentice served with machinist experience background.
* Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerance requirements.
* Strong modern tooling knowledge.
* Familiar with modern machining methods.
* Work holding /fixture design experience.
* Expertise in CAD. Solid Edge or similar system.
* Understanding of CNC code and offline programming experience an advantage.
* Capital Expenditure (CAPEX): Identify suitable new equipment, create proposals, and oversee the commissioning and FAT.
* Computer Literate (Microsoft).
* SAP experience an advantage. Understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
* Creation of BoM and routings.
* Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures.
Education
* Apprenticeship/machinist background.
* HNC/HND desired but relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience
* 10 years (min) Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry.
* CI experience (6 Sigma methodologies).
