Job Description:
Head of Finance (Service Charge) – Debden, Essex
Up to £80,000 | Mon–Fri, 9am–5:30pm (early Friday finish)
We're working with one of London’s leading privately-owned property developers, known for their high-quality residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes across London and the Midlands.
They’re looking for a finance professional with strong service charge experience to lead the accounts function across their property management division. You'll manage a team and take ownership of rent and service charge accounting, compliance, and reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to step into a leadership role and really shape how service charge finance is delivered in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee service charge and rent accounting across a varied portfolio
* Take full responsibility for first-year service charge accounts on new/multi-phase developments
* Build annual budgets, manage reconciliations, and produce monthly financial reports
* Ensure full compliance with UK GAAP, VAT, and tax regulations
* Develop internal controls and improve finance processes
* Support and develop your team
* Be the go-to Excel expert for templates, models, and reporting tools

What You’ll Need:
* Strong finance background with some leadership experience
* Deep understanding of service charge accounting and block management
* Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, PivotTables, etc.)
* Confidence interpreting financial statements and explaining them clearly
* Property finance experience, ideally within residential leasehold
* Familiarity with Bluebox or similar property finance systems
* Experience with large or complex residential schemes
