Job Description
Are you detail-oriented, organised, and looking to grow your career in finance? Join Sage as a Payment Analyst within our European Finance Operations team. You'll be part of a collaborative Purchase to Pay (P2P) function that plays a key role in ensuring payments are processed efficiently, accurately, and in line with our business policies.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment, while contributing to continuous improvement and building strong internal and external relationships.
This role is hybrid, based in our Newcastle office, 3 days a week.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Payment Analyst, you'll be responsible for processing supplier invoices using our document recognition system, ensuring everything runs smoothly and aligns with Sage's policies. You'll manage both internal and external queries, prioritising issues to ensure timely resolution and helping us meet key KPIs—especially making sure payments go out on time.
You'll play an important role in maintaining accuracy and financial integrity through regular supplier statement reconciliations. When issues arise, you'll escalate them to the P2P Manager and ensure they're resolved promptly and effectively. You'll also be expected to plan and manage your workload carefully so that both payment schedules and month-end deadlines are consistently met.
Teamwork and Continuous Improvement:
This is a role where flexibility matters—you'll support all areas of the P2P department when needed, including contributing to key projects. You'll also be actively involved in learning and development activities, with the opportunity to build a personal development plan and grow your skills over time.
You'll be part of a team that values excellent service, clear communication, and a strong customer-first mindset. Working closely with other finance teams and business units, you'll help resolve issues and ensure everyone's on the same page.
Adding Value Beyond the Day-to-Day:
Beyond processing and reporting, you'll play a part in making our processes better. You'll help document and standardise work methods, identify areas where waste can be eliminated, and contribute to updating the team's value stream map. Participating in improvement projects is part of Sage's continuous improvement culture, and your ideas and input will be welcomed.
You'll also help track team KPIs, assist with internal reporting, and contribute to wider departmental projects when needed. When a colleague is out, you'll step in to support their workload, and you'll keep your manager up to date on queue management to ensure smooth operations.
What You Bring:
You have at least two years of experience in accounts payable, ideally within a tech or fast-paced environment. You're familiar with service-oriented roles and have a customer-first approach to your work. If you've worked in a continuous improvement culture or used ERP systems before, that's a bonus.
You're comfortable managing priorities and approaching your work with an agile, solutions-focused mindset. No specific qualifications are required, but if you're studying or have an interest in accounting, that's a great fit for this role.
What Success Looks Like:
You'll be known for your accuracy, ability to meet performance targets, and willingness to support process improvements. Your contributions will be visible in how effectively the team runs, how quickly issues get resolved, and how confidently Sage delivers payments and reporting.
