Contract Reason: Subject to funding

Hours Per Week: 36hours

Base Location: Tameside One, Ashton-under-Lyne

The Role

Tameside Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Welfare Rights & Debt Advice Team as a Welfare Rights Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, helping us to achieve our ambition of Starting Well, Living Well, and Ageing Well in Tameside.

The job role is to provide welfare benefits advice by telephone and face to face, undertake benefit checks, help make successful claims for benefits and other grants to maximise income

The role will also provide outreach advice in community venues as well as home visits to support benefit take up campaigns.

About You

The successful applicant will need to have relevant, demonstrable, up to date experience in providing welfare benefits advice work including undertaking benefit checks, casework and helping with claim forms. An excellent working knowledge of the benefits system, especially in the areas of sickness and disability, are also required along with first class communication skills.
