Offer description

About The Role

This is a varied and exciting communications role which sits in the fast-paced High Value Operations team in the Income and Engagement directorate. While copywriting is the core skill for this position, the role also calls for creativity – from designing impactful communications to bringing fresh ideas that engage and inspire donors. In the role, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the High Value Fundraising teams and beyond to lead on writing high value funding proposals, impact reports, event collateral and other impact focused donor communications. You’ll be working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to gather information that demonstrates impact for our donors –including major donors, trusts, legacy, and corporate partners.

Working to briefs provided by fundraising relationship managers, you’ll use your knowledge of the organisation to create compelling and emotive narratives tailored to each supporter, putting the stories of people affected by dementia at the heart of your proposals and reports. Your written work will engage supporters and inspire donations towards projects being delivered across Alzheimer’s Society. In this role, continuous feedback is critical, both in reviewing your own work and that of your colleagues. You’ll join a team committed to ensuring our communications are story led, impactful and of the highest standard.

High Value Operations is a dynamic team made up of Impact Communications, Proposition Development, Prospect Development and Special Events. You’ll work closely alongside one other Impact Communications Officer and two Impact Communications Managers. This is a homeworking role, but you will be required to travel to attend some meetings and team-days, predominantly in our London office.

About you

1. Be a skilled copywriter with a talent for crafting compelling, emotive narratives that inspire action.
2. Be highly collaborative, able to build strong relationships across teams and work confidently with multiple stakeholders.
3. Have experience writing for different audiences and ideally some knowledge of the charity sector, understanding how to tailor tone and messaging to resonate with supporters.
4. Have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to refining your work to the highest standard, while being open to feedback and continuous improvement.
5. Be organised and proactive, managing multiple briefs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll focus on:

6. Writing high-value funding proposals, impact reports, and donor communications that demonstrate impact and inspire support.
7. Designing and shaping creative communications that engage donors and reflect Alzheimer’s Society’s brand and tone of voice.
8. Collaborating with fundraising teams to gather accurate project information and tailor communications to donor needs.
9. Reviewing and refining written work—both your own and others—to ensure clarity, quality, and excellence.
10. Exploring innovative ways to enhance donor engagement and continually improve the effectiveness of communications.
