We are seeking a friendly, practical, and reliable Assistant Caretaker to join our team at a vibrant and well‑used Centre in Finchley. Our site supports a diverse community of tenants and we pride ourselves on maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well‑run environment for everyone who uses our facilities.
This is a varied and active role to support our Head Caretaker to keep the site running smoothly, assist with day‑to‑day maintenance tasks, help prepare spaces for events and meetings, and provide occasional cover during holidays or absences.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting general site maintenance and minor repairs (e.g. changing light bulbs, simple plumbing tasks)
* Assisting with gardening and keeping outdoor areas tidy
* Setting up rooms for meetings and events
* Helping move light furniture and equipment when required
* Working with the Head Caretaker during busy periods and special events
* Providing holiday and absence cover for the full‑time caretaker
* Interacting with tenants and visitors in a helpful, polite, and professional manner
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Practical and proactive, with a hands‑on approach
* Reliable and trustworthy
* Comfortable carrying out manual tasks and light maintenance work
* Physically fit and happy to work across different areas of the site
* A confident communicator who enjoys helping people
* Able to work flexibly when needed
Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or similar manual work experience is desirable.
We will provide training in manual handling, First Aid and Working at Heights.
Important Information
Because our site includes a school and nursery, the successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check (arranged and paid for by us).
