Operations Graduate Engineer/Operations Technician
BEAR Scotland is seeking Graduate Engineers or Technicians eager to advance their engineering careers within our Operations Department.
The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and assist with daily activities related to the delivery of work streams by the Operations Department. Responsibilities include executing, measuring, and inspecting a variety of schemes to meet technical standards, schedules, and budgets. The role also involves supporting winter, cyclical, and emergency activities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Complying with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures as part of the company’s Integrated Management Systems.
* Delivering assigned schemes on time and within budget.
* Monitoring and controlling project costs effectively.
* Building and maintaining good relationships with clients, customers, and other stakeholders.
* Collaborating with supervisors on programming, delivery, and measurement of schemes.
* Planning daily workloads.
* Assisting in drafting risk assessments and method statements.
* Supporting the development of Construction Phase Plans and Health & Safety Files.
* Assisting the Operations Manager with site and document measurement submissions to the commercial team.
* Supporting winter maintenance operations.
* Contributing to depot development projects.
* Participating in cyclic maintenance activities such as gully cleaning, sign cleaning, and grass cutting.
* Inputting data into the Transport Scotland Asset Management Performance System (AMPS).
* Assisting with fleet management tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Qualification in a relevant civil engineering discipline.
* Understanding of civil engineering documents (e.g., DMRB) and standards.
* Willingness to work towards further qualification or chartered status.
* Proficiency in design and office software.
* Ability to meet strict deadlines.
* Commercial awareness.
* Full UK driving license.
