Job Overview The Cardiac Centre at the RUH offers a wide range of non-invasive and invasive procedures within a modern centre. The post holder is responsive to the Head of Ambulatory Services. The post holder generally works with the supervision of a well-established team and accepts standards and policies are in place to monitor workloads put upon them. There is a need for a physical ability to exert in light frequent physical effort throughout each shift pushing equipment and patients within the hospital. Although not currently the post may involve weekend and community working in the future Main duties of the job Main duties and responsibilities The Person Appointed Will Be Working In The Following Areas And Be Able To Advise Patients, Relatives And Other Healthcare Professionals In The Following Areas Perform electro-cardiograms for both inpatients and outpatients. This is predominantly in the Medical outpatient areas although on occasions there will be contact with Mental Health patients and children/babies. Be responsible for following department ECG guidelines. Understand fully ECG indications and limitations of use. Independently report ECG results with some comparisons to previous tests where appropriate. Undergo any in house or external training sessions including education and assessment to achieve and maintain competency. Care for inpatients throughout the time the test requires and deal with bodily fluids as needed e.g. urine/sputum – twice a shift on average. Care for outpatients throughout assisting with undressing/dressing, toileting duties and dealing with bodily fluids as required. This often involves pushing patients from the waiting room in their chairs. Providing and receiving routine patient requests confirming tests performed and reporting data in line with department policy on our computer system. Perform ambulatory ECG & BP recordings. Responsible for ambulatory recordings.
