Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Field Based Service Engineer role located in Hinckley, with regular travel to customer sites across the region and potentially wider UK. The Field Based Service Engineer will install, commission, service, and repair healthcare equipment such as hoists, baths, beds, mattresses, and related accessories in care homes, hospitals, and private residences. Key responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, conducting LOLER and safety inspections, diagnosing faults, completing repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and fully operational. The role involves providing clear technical explanations to customers, offering basic user training where needed, and documenting all work carried out in line with company and regulatory standards. The engineer will coordinate with the service team for parts, follow-up visits, and urgent call-outs, while representing Multicare with a professional, respectful, and customer-focused approach at all times.
Qualifications
* Strong field service experience, including on-site visits, equipment installation, and mobile working practices.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on electro-mechanical or medical equipment.
* Experience providing technical support, both in person and via phone or digital channels, to a non-technical audience.
* Demonstrated capability in preventive maintenance, safety checks, and compliance-related inspections (LOLER experience preferred).
* Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and work respectfully in care environments.
* Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or similar) in engineering, electronics, mechanics, or a related field is desirable.
* Previous experience with healthcare, mobility, or lifting equipment servicing is an advantage.
* Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
* Ability to work independently, manage time and schedules effectively, and maintain accurate service documentation.
* Awareness of health and safety practices and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
