Role Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Finance Director to act as the strategic and operational right hand to the Managing Director during an ambitious period of transformation and rapid growth. With a clear trajectory to scale by 30% year-on-year over the next 5 years, this role is critical to driving financial performance, shaping long-term strategy, and building a scalable finance infrastructure from the ground up.
As a qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA) with proven experience in both SMEs and large-scale organisations, you will bring a balance of hands-on operational control and strategic foresight. You will be instrumental in embedding financial rigour, building a high-performing team, implementing systems and controls, and enabling intelligent, data-led decisions to propel business growth.
Key Objectives Over 5 Years
* Build and lead a finance function that supports sustainable 30% YoY growth.
* Act as the primary financial advisor and commercial partner to the Managing Director.
* Shape and drive the long-term financial strategy and business model evolution.
* Introduce ERP systems and scalable financial infrastructure.
* Establish and embed operational excellence and robust internal controls.
* Develop and coach a finance team capable of supporting a much larger business.
* Focus on metrics to increase EV
Strategic Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a 5-year financial growth strategy aligned to business goals and market opportunities.
* Drive strategic planning, forecasting, and financial modelling to inform board-level decision-making.
* Advise on business structure, funding models, commercial investments, and potential exit strategy.
* Build financial resilience through advanced cashflow planning, pricing optimisation, and margin control.
* Champion data-led decision making across the organisation using strong analytical frameworks.
Operational Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end finance function, currently comprising a Trainee Management Accountant and Accounts Assistant, with responsibility for all core reporting, cash management, forecasting, tax, and compliance OTIF ( on time in full ).
* Manage dynamic budget and monthly cashflow forecasting with a high level of accuracy by working closely with the sales pipeline and stock forecast.
* Design and implement a modern finance function with best-practice systems, controls, and processes to support rapid scaling.
* Take full ownership of the monthly management accounts, budgeting process, and statutory reporting.
* Lead the implementation of a new ERP system, ensuring seamless integration with operational processes.
* Manage all treasury, FX, and working capital requirements (95% of COGS are in FX and 99% sales in GBP).
* Drive continuous improvement across the finance team, using automation and technology to streamline operations.
* Serve as a trusted business partner to the MD and senior leadership team.
* Translate strategic objectives into clear financial action plans and measurable KPIs.
* Build and mentor a growing finance team, promoting accountability, ownership, and development.
* Partner with department heads to ensure commercial alignment and financial discipline throughout the organisation.
* Foster a culture of high performance, innovation, and mutual respect, aligned with company values.
* Management of Company taxes, Directors personal tax and collaborating with the Company’s appointed Accountants and auditors.
Skills & Experience Required
* Qualified Accountant CCBA (CIMA or ACCA).
* Experience in scaling an SME with a track record of driving growth.
* Strong background in both hands-on operational finance and high-level strategic planning.
* Exposure to corporate environments, with an understanding of governance, reporting standards, and investor expectations.
* Proven experience implementing or upgrading ERP systems.
* Commercial acumen with a sharp eye for profitability, risk, and opportunity.
* Skilled in coaching and developing finance professionals to build a future-ready function.
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
