Insurance Manager – Merseyside

Hybrid - 3 days office

c.£50,000 + Benefits

Are you an Insurance Officer or Risk Officer with in-house corporate experience, ready to progress into an Insurance Manager position? An established multinational organisation is seeking a highly capable professional to manage their UK insurance portfolio, reporting directly to the Group Insurance Manager.

This is a high-impact role within the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) function. You will have the opportunity to shape and refine UK risk strategies, ensuring the organisation is protected through effective insurance and risk management practices.

As the Insurance Manager, you will:

* Take ownership of the UK insurance portfolio and act as the key liaison between UK operations and GRC.
* Apply a strategic approach to optimise insurance placements and maintain the organisation’s financial defences.
* Influence cross-functional teams across Operations, HSEQ, and Finance, ensuring accurate data collection and actionable insights.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, with opportunities for career progression within the GRC function.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

* In-house corporate risk management experience, including risk identification, control, mitigation strategies, and insurance placement.
* Experience managing complex UK and/or global corporate insurance programs.
* Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver accurate data for effective risk transfer.

Required Competencies:

* Excellent communication skills, able to present complex risk information clearly to stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a focus on optimising TCOR.
* Effective project management and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
* Ability to challenge opinions logically, with practical knowledge of risk management standards (e.g., ISO 31000).
* Attention to detail, proactive, and highly organised.

Desirable Qualifications:

* Professional qualification in Risk Management (e.g., IRMCert) or working towards one.
* Relevant Finance or Insurance qualification (Cert CII, DipCII, or equivalent).
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Insurance, Economics, Business, Law).
