The role & about the client:
Our client is an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of refurbishment projects across London and the South East. They deliver schemes across commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors, typically ranging from £500k – £10m in value. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong refurbishment background to join their commercial team based near Gravesend. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a stable workload and long-term career progression opportunities.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Managing all commercial aspects of refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account
Preparing cost plans, budgets and tender documentation
Procurement of subcontractors and supplier packages
Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor variations and valuations
Cost reporting and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
Identifying and managing commercial risks
Producing and agreeing final accounts
Working closely with project managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget
Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a main contractor
Strong refurbishment or fit-out project experience (essential)
Experience managing projects from inception to completion
Good knowledge of JCT contracts
Strong negotiation and commercial management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and organisational skills
