Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on behalf of a bespoke manufacturer in Sheffield to recruit a Mechanical Fitter.

Mechanical FitterLocation: SheffieldSalary: Competitive DOEWorking Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm, Friday 7:30am – 11:30am
Key Responsibilities:
* Mechanical assembly and machine builds from engineering drawings
* Small-batch production: fitting, building, and final assembly
* Prototype builds for new product development
* Support build readiness: design for manufacture, build processes, quality, and safety
* Inspect and control build quality – ensuring dimensions and characteristics are correct
* Record manufacturing knowledge and support continuous improvement activities
* Assist with Stores functions – control of incoming materials and production orders
* Maintain accurate records: route cards and timesheets
* Carry out general maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workshop
Requirements:
* Excellent hands-on mechanical fitting skills
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
* IT literate – confident with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
* Manual machining skills are desirable but not essential
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Experience:
* BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
* Experience in prototyping and small-batch manufacturing
* Background in electrical or rotating machinery is advantageous
* Exposure to lean manufacturing is desirable
* Knowledge of winding, impregnation, or assembly of high-strength magnets is a plus
