Job Purpose:
As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a Finance Manager to help us ensure our financial sustainability while delivering exceptional care and support.
As a Finance Manager at SOL, you will play a pivotal role in aligning financial strategy with operational delivery. You will work closely with service managers and senior leaders to provide financial insight, support decision-making, and ensure that resources are used effectively to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support a small Business Support Team, ensuring effective day-to-day financial operations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
* Act as a strategic partner to operational teams, offering financial insight and guidance.
* Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in collaboration with the Workforce Deployment Team and Payroll Co-ordinator.
* Lead on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across services.
* Prepare and present monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and performance commentary.
* Support funding applications, tenders, and service development proposals with robust financial modelling.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and external reporting requirements.
* Build financial awareness and capability across non-finance teams.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.
Essential Criteria:
* Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ICAS) or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience in a Finance Manager or management accounting role.
* Experience in leading or managing a small team.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships.
* Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
Desirable:
* Experience in the social care, health, or third sector.
* Understanding of social care funding and commissioning frameworks.
* Familiarity with charity accounting.
* Experience overseeing payroll processes.
