Offer description

About The Role
Join our Restoring Rivers & Catchments Team and help deliver meaningful environmental change. As a Project Officer, working predominantly in the South London area, you'll design and deliver a range of physical river and catchment enhancement projects—from early concept and design through to on‑the‑ground implementation. Projects may include weir removals, fish passage improvements, habitat restoration, wetland creation, SuDS and Natural Flood Management.

This is an exciting opportunity to build on your experience, lead your own projects and contribute to a dynamic team making a real difference for rivers, wildlife and communities.

Whilst you will be predominantly working on projects for the Hogsmill, Wandle, Beverley Brook and Cray rivers, you may be required to work on other projects within the wider SERT region.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and design river and catchment enhancement projects using sound science and best practice
* Secure environmental consents, permissions and landowner agreements
* Build strong, positive relationships with partners and stakeholders
* Lead or support project delivery, including managing contractors, volunteers and colleagues
* Ensure Health & Safety compliance across all project activity
* Support communications, fundraising, monitoring and wider organisational work
* Mentor Assistant Project Officers and contribute to a collaborative team culture

What We Are Looking For
We're seeking someone with freshwater or environmental expertise, strong project management skills and a genuine enthusiasm for river and catchment restoration. You should feel confident leading medium‑scale projects, working with a range of partners and contributing to the wider goals of the organisation.

About You
You will bring:

* Experience delivering environmental, conservation or construction‑related projects
* Good understanding of river processes, freshwater ecology or catchment management
* Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills
* A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to support and learn from others
* A passion for improving rivers and the natural environment
