Contracts Manager
An opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to lead commercial activities on high‑value capital projects (£20m–£500m) and provide end‑to‑end commercial management through the delivery phase.
Key Responsibilities
* Negotiate contract terms and conditions for large capital projects
* Provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from award to completion
* Manage and support commercial teams, ensuring effective cost control and reporting
* Agree, manage, and substantiate contract pricing to demonstrate value for money
* Oversee cost forecasting, change control, payments, and expenditure management
* Produce and review cost estimates and commercial reports
* Lead post‑contract commercial activities, including negotiation of compensation events
* Ensure commercial governance procedures and frameworks are applied consistently
* Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and support dispute resolution
Requirements
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
* Membership of, or working towards, a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS, CICES)
* Minimum of 5 years’ post‑graduate commercial experience
* Strong knowledge of commercial governance within large capital projects
* Proven experience in cost and budget management, estimating, and procurement
* Solid background in contract administration and commercial reporting
* Experience drafting and interpreting commercial contracts
* Working knowledge of standard form and bespoke contracts, including NEC and/or FIDIC
