An established and growing organisation within the logistics and operations sector is seeking an Assistant Warehouse Manager with a strong focus on purchasing and inventory control. The Role
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient warehouse operations, maintaining optimal stock levels, and supporting supplier coordination. This position offers a balance of hands-on warehouse involvement and administrative responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
1. Manage daily purchasing activities to maintain stock availability
2. Raise and process purchase orders
3. Monitor stock levels and reorder as required
4. Liaise with suppliers on pricing, delivery schedules, and availability
5. Maintain accurate purchasing records
Inventory & Stock Management
6. Maintain and update inventory records within internal systems
7. Monitor stock movement, trends, and reorder points
8. Support stock forecasting and planning
9. Assist with regular stock takes and discrepancy investigations
10. Support quality checks on inbound goods
Warehouse Operations
11. Assist in the smooth running of goods-in, storage, and dispatch
12. Ensure deliveries are checked and recorded accurately
13. Promote efficient and safe storage practices
Supplier & Logistics Coordination
14. Coordinate inbound deliveries with suppliers and transport providers
15. Track shipments and resolve any delivery issues
16. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Team Support & Supervision
17. Support supervision of warehouse staff and daily task allocation
18. Provide guidance and training where needed
19. Help maintain a productive and organised working environment
Health & Safety
20. Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures
21. Promote safe handling and storage practices
22. Report hazards or incidents
Reporting & Administration
23. Prepare inventory and purchasing reports
24. Maintain accurate documentation and records
25. Support audits and stock reconciliation activities
About You
Essential:
26. Experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory control
27. Background in warehouse or logistics operations
28. Strong organisational and administrative skills
29. Good numerical and analytical ability
30. Confident communicator with supplier-facing experience
31. Proficient in spreadsheets and stock systems
Desirable:
32. Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
33. Understanding of procurement processes
34. Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
