Job Description

You will join the Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS), which manages crucial environmental monitoring systems and datasets. The role supports and learns from a multidisciplinary team while analysing and improving data that underpins our work.
The successful candidate will fulfil a multi‑purpose role, working primarily on Water Quality systems and data, but also supporting other systems and data as needed. The position involves:
* Setting up and managing users
* Supporting users and resolving issues, particularly during the transition to the new My Environment application
* Updating, improving and maintaining datasets
* Responding to internal and external data requests
* Supporting system improvement and upgrade projects
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need arises. Incident role responsibilities form an essential part of working for the Environment Agency.

Experience / Skills Required
* Experience working with large, complex datasets
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems
* Motivated, organised, friendly and helpful, comfortable working in a dispersed team environment
* Proactive and enjoys solving problems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service
Other Desirable Experience / Skills
* Experience managing environmental monitoring data systems
* Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R
* Working knowledge of water‑quality monitoring
Location and Working Arrangements
Work location is flexible with a required base at one of our offices across England. We offer hybrid home/office working and expect some travel for meetings.
Interviews and Selection
Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January. Interview dates will be confirmed with invited candidates.
