About the role
Biscuit International UK has 1 site in the UK and this opportunity is located in Team Valley, Gateshead. We have been operating for more than 80 of years in the UK.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Shift Manager to lead our production operations. In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all manufacturing processes on your shift. You will lead a team of Product and Pack Team Leads, overseeing a shift team of 30–35 employees, ensuring all products are delivered on time, in full, and to the highest quality standards. You will drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and team development while ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.

Our new colleague’s key responsibilities
* Plan and manage shift operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
* Lead and support Team Leads to ensure effective execution of daily plans and shift targets.
* Drive a strong health, safety, and wellbeing culture across the shift.
* Monitor and evaluate performance, implementing proactive measures to improve productivity and reduce waste.
* Ensure compliance with all quality, food safety, and hygiene standards.
* Manage all people-related processes including absence, holiday planning, training, and development.
* Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
* Support and deliver continuous improvement initiatives and project work as required.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure audit readiness and operational excellence.

* Proven experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of lean management and continuous improvement principles.
* Experience in health and safety and food safety standards.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to act decisively under pressure.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Level 2 Food Safety (provided by the business); Level 2 Health & Safety and Manual Handling desirable.
* Experience in the food industry is desirable.
