Primary SEND Teaching Assistant Start Date: September 2025 (Full Academic Year) Location: DE56 Contract: Term Time Only (39 Weeks) - Monday to Friday, approx. 8:30am-3:30pm Salary: Competitive PAYE rate - £90 to £110 per day About the Role We're working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025 for the full academic year. In this role, you'll support pupils in a mainstream classroom setting, focusing on those with special educational needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). You'll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver tailored academic and pastoral support through one-to-one and small group interventions. Key Responsibilities Deliver targeted support to pupils with SEN (1:1 and small group) Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs Implement interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing Support positive behaviour strategies and classroom routines Track pupil progress and contribute to SEN reviews and EHCP meetings Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff Person Specification Essential: Experience supporting primary-aged children, ideally with SEN Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (or equivalent) Excellent communication, empathy, and adaptability Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare Desirable: Experience delivering interventions (e.g. phonics, SEMH, speech & language) Familiarity with EHCPs and working alongside SENCOs and therapists Training in behaviour management or trauma-informed approaches What We Offer Competitive daily rate via PAYE Term-time only contract for a great work-life balance Access to high-quality CPD (e.g. SEMH, speech & language strategies) Supportive school environment with collaborative SEN teams Dedicated consultant to guide your placement and provide ongoing support Why Join Us?
