Curriculum Leader – English Contract: Permanent, Full-time Start Date: January 2025 Salary: Lead Practitioner Scale We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Curriculum Leader in either English, to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Watford from January 2026. This is a permanent, full-time role offering excellent career development opportunities. The Role As Curriculum Leader, you will: * Provide professional leadership to a department of teaching and non-teaching staff. * Ensure high-quality, innovative teaching and learning that raises attainment across all key stages. * Be accountable for student progress and achievement within your subject area. * Lead on curriculum development, assessment, and departmental improvement planning. * Manage departmental resources and ensure effective performance management. * Support, develop and mentor staff, including trainees and ECTs. * Contribute to the wider ethos, policies, and improvement plans of the school. Key Responsibilities * Plan, deliver and monitor effective teaching and learning strategies. * Oversee schemes of work, assessment processes, and use of data to track student progress. * Ensure students are fully prepared for both internal and external examinations. * Promote your subject and encourage uptake at GCSE and beyond. * Manage departmental budgets, resources, and administrative responsibilities. * Uphold high standards of behaviour and student conduct in line with school policy. * Actively participate in whole-school activities, training, meetings, and parent events.
