Independent Psychiatry is seeking to connect with GMC-registered Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists interested in medicolegal work on an independent, ad-hoc basis.
We prepare independent psychiatric reports that are trusted across Scotland and the UK, supporting solicitors, advocates, Sheriff Courts, and the High Court.
About the Opportunity
Our medicolegal work covers a wide range of cases, including:
* Fitness for trial and criminal responsibility assessments
* Children’s medico-legal reports
* Capacity assessments
* Personal injury evaluations
* Amongst others
As part of our expert network, you will:
* Conduct independent psychiatric assessments tailored to legal proceedings.
* Prepare clear, impartial medicolegal reports suitable for court submission.
* Provide oral expert evidence in court when required.
* Work collaboratively with solicitors, advocates, and courts to clarify findings.
What We’re Looking For
* GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist on the specialist register in Forensic Psychiatry.
* Experience in preparing medicolegal psychiatric reports.
* Ability to provide clear, impartial, court-ready written evidence.
* Previous experience giving oral expert testimony.
