What you’ll be doing The development Project Manager is a part of the Transmission Major Projects function of SP Energy Networks. In this role you will be the owner and driving force for a range of major electricity transmission projects from concept through to project handover into delivery units. As a Project Manager, you will be expected to provide leadership and co-ordination across internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure that projects are ready for delivery within agreed timescales. Provide leadership for programme development and planning activities associated with major projects, while creating and maintaining a high-level network activity roadmap to ensure visibility of all key elements for network development and coordination decisions. You will effectively manage project risk and mitigate any emerging issues, complying with the SPEN/SPT Integrated Management System. Understanding the potential interactions between various proposed projects, you will develop initiatives to minimize their impact on deliverability. You will manage interfaces with outage planning to ensure the outage programme aligns with the major projects investment programme requirements. Additionally, you will develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections for assigned projects, supervise the creation of robust project plans, and ensure progress against these plans. Managing budget and expenditure on projects prior to handover to project units will also be part of your role. Communicating programme development and project status to stakeholders, you will highlight any engineering development issues that cannot be reconciled with the overall investment programme to management, along with recommendations for mitigating actions. Finally, you will engage in and drive process improvement initiatives in collaboration with colleagues and other stakeholders. What you’ll bring You will be an experienced Project Manager with significant experience of managing projects at development phase. You will have demonstrable experience of risk management and control, procurement procedures and processes, contract management and financial control and forecasting. You will have the ability to make balanced decisions, considering all relevant information, and consulting with key stakeholders is important for this role. To be successful, you must demonstrate the following as minimum: Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience Experienced in working in multi-disciplined teams at a professional level. Extensive experience in planning activities for complex and interactive technical projects, along with significant expertise in a programme delivery or project planning environment. Experienced in large expenditure projects delivering on a timeline with commercial implications. Sound IT skills with competent experience in Microsoft Office suite. Full UK Driving Licence.
