About the Role
Our client, a leading international automotive distributor, is seeking a Group Finance Director for its UK operations. This role is part of the senior leadership team, with an indirect reporting line to the European CFO, this is a high-profile leadership position within a fast-growing organisation.
This is both a succession and transformation role, requiring a hands-on finance leader who can combine technical expertise with commercial acumen. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening financial discipline, embedding effective controls across multi-site operations, and driving the integration of financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Control
* Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting.
* Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful monthly financial results and KPIs.
* Ensure compliance with UK and international audit, tax, and regulatory requirements.
* Partner with senior management to support margin improvement and cost optimisation.
Process & Systems Transformation
* Lead the integration of multiple ERP systems into a single, standardised platform.
* Drive financial process improvements, embedding rigour and consistency.
* Introduce digital tools that provide real-time financial analysis and decision-making support.
Operational & Commercial Management
* Collaborate with sales, aftersales, and operations to optimise commercial performance.
* Provide financial guidance on insurance, tax planning, and financing exposures.
* Adopt a hands-on approach, engaging directly in operational problem-solving when required.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Lead and develop a finance team of approximately 10, including three managers.
* Act as a trusted advisor to the UK Board, and international leadership team.
* Build strong relationships across dealerships and operational sites.
* Promote a culture aligned with the group's values of respect, performance, and passion.
Candidate Profile
* 10+ years of progressive financial experience, including 5+ years in senior financial leadership.
* Strong technical grounding in financial accounting, controls, and audit.
* Automotive sector experience strongly preferred; related industries (trucks, heavy equipment, industrial distribution) also considered.
* Proven track record in ERP/finance system implementation and integration.
* Experience in multi-branch operations and complex audit environments.
* Commercially astute, analytical, and solutions-oriented.
* Strong communication and influencing skills at both Board and operational levels.
* Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable in fast-paced, high-change environments.
