The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a strategic, results-driven Director of Sales to lead Sales and Meetings & Events, driving revenue growth and market share across five key segments:
* Meetings & Events
* Corporate Groups & Corporate Transient
This senior commercial leadership role is perfect for a seasoned sales specialist with an extensive network and a proven track record of winning high-value business.
The successful candidate will set the strategic direction for both Sales and M&E teams, ensuring full alignment, integration, and execution of strategies that position The Grand, York as a market leader in both the York and UK City Centre luxury hotel sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership across Sales and M&E, aligning goals to maximise performance and revenue.
* Leverage an extensive network across Luxury Leisure Consortia, Incentive, M&E, and Corporate segments domestically and internationally.
* Lead on-property sales teams, driving new business opportunities and growing market share with existing clients.
* Develop and execute competitive strategies to win business from competitors.
* Ensure seamless integration of Proactive Sales and M&E activities, fostering collaboration across teams.
* Partner with Preferred Global and Regional teams to capture new business opportunities from key accounts.
* Act as a Splendid Hospitality Group ambassador, cross-selling the portfolio.
* Represent SHG and The Grand York at domestic and international tradeshows, sales missions, and events.
* Provide oversight to ensure teams meet pipeline objectives and fully adopt Salesforce for transparent, data-driven performance.
* Monitor industry trends and competitor activity.
* Collaborate with senior SHG leadership to drive commercial initiatives.
* Ensure rigorous ROI tracking and accurate reporting for all sales and event-related investments.
About You
* Extensive experience in luxury or city-centre hotel sales and M&E.
* Strong leadership and commercial acumen, with a track record of driving revenue growth.
* Skilled networker with experience across UK and international markets.
* A collaborative, strategic thinker able to inspire high-performing teams.
