Purpose
As a Support Worker within the Care and Support Team, you will provide autonomous assistance to support the independence, choice, inclusion, and control of the people we care for, ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, person‑centred, and delivered within budget.
Location & Travel
This role will be based at our Delrow Community in Watford.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver support and care to foster well‑being and development, recording and reviewing progress in line with person‑centred support plans.
* Assist with daily living tasks: maintain a clean environment, use laundry equipment, plan menus, shop, cook, and handle safe storage.
* Help arrange and attend medical appointments, budget, access benefits, maintain tenancy, monitor finances, and liaise with landlords.
* Provide personal care (e.g., bathing, hair washing) where required and within appropriate registration frameworks.
* Administer and record medication, check orders, and complete relevant paperwork including support plans, daily updates, risk assessments, incident and behaviour reports.
* Adhere to community policies, procedures, and code of conduct, promoting equality, diversity, and human rights.
* Undertake training and continuous professional development to meet Care Quality Commission, local authority, and organisational standards.
* Develop a deep understanding of our philosophy and values, applying them to your practice.
* Work in partnership with family members and other professionals involved in each individual’s life.
* Plan and organise local and community‑based events such as coffee mornings or film clubs.
Person Specification
* Preferably experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and distressed behaviours/emotions (training will be provided).
* Desirable to hold a driver’s licence.
* Sleep‑ins are required for this role.
* Desire to support people to achieve autonomy and a life full of opportunities.
* Supportive, encouraging, and natural approach to daily living tasks.
* Creative spirit and willingness to arrange community events.
* Passion for helping others live fulfilling and interesting lives.
* Enjoyment of activities such as swimming, crafts, and socialising.
Education
* Good general education with numeracy and literacy skills; no formal qualifications are essential as we support you in developing them.
* General IT skills required.
