Job Overview
This is a full‑time 10 PAs appointment. The postholder will spend approximately 8 PAs on Loxford Ward and 2 PAs in Waltham Forest. Part‑time or flexible arrangements may be discussed.
Closing date: 23rd November 2025. AAC panel date: 16th December 2025.
Clinical Duties
* Hold consultant responsibility for approximately 10 patients under the Waltham Forest Community Forensic Team and for inpatients on Loxford Ward.
* Provide clinical leadership to the Waltham Forest Community Forensic Team and to Loxford Ward.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Desirable Criteria
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Additional clinical qualifications.
Eligibility
Essential Criteria
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Desirable Criteria
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Transport
Essential Criteria
* Ability to travel within East London and between clinical sites.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
* Knowledge and understanding of forensic psychiatry.
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Ability to make decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
Desirable Criteria
* Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or a comparable service.
Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning
Essential Criteria
* Interest in and experience of quality improvement work.
* Participation in continuous professional development.
* Ability to use and appraise clinical evidence.
* Active participation in clinical audit.
Desirable Criteria
* Ability to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to the post.
* Reflection on purpose of CPD undertaken.
* Experience in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
* Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement (awards, prizes, presentations, publications).
* Leadership of clinical audits leading to service change.
