Overview of role:
The role involves managing the library daily, welcoming and assisting users, issuing, returning, and shelving books, supporting events, and maintaining a presentable environment.
Key details:
* Hours: Wednesday to Saturday (Wed - 10am to 6pm, Thurs - 10am to 7pm, Fri - 10am to 7pm, Sat - 12pm to 4pm), 30 hours/week
* All Year Round (52 weeks)
* Wage: £7.55/hour (rises to National Minimum Wage after 12 months)
* Location: 10, Keats Grove, London, NW3 2RR
* Qualification: Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant – Level 3 (equivalent to A Level)
* Duration: 20 months
* Training Provider: LMP Education (Rated No 1 in the UK!)
* Delivery: Online/remotely alongside role
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist members of the public with finding, issuing, renewing, and returning books
* Shelve books and maintain orderly shelves using the library’s filing system
* Help with photocopying, printing, and scanning
* Follow up on overdue books and conduct inventory checks
* Open and close the library as needed
* Support library events
* Perform general administrative duties
* Assist with minor IT issues and public queries
Skills & Personal Qualities:
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic IT skills, familiar with library management systems
* Enthusiastic and eager to learn
* Friendly and approachable with a positive attitude
Qualifications Requirements:
* GCSE or equivalent (Functional Skills) English Grade 4 or above
* GCSE or equivalent (Functional Skills) Maths Grade 4 or above
