Job Title: Qualified Early Years Nursery Practitioner
Location: Nurseries, Early Years Settings, and Pre-Schools in Liverpool and surrounding areas
Reports to: Nursery Manager / Room Leader / EYFS Lead / Senior Leadership Team
Contract Type: Long-term
Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality early years education and childcare in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The role involves supporting children's learning, development, wellbeing, and safety within a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive environment, while ensuring high standards of care and professional practice are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities: Learning & Development
* Plan and support engaging, age‑appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework
* Encourage learning through play, exploration, creativity, and structured activities
* Support children's development across the prime and specific areas of learning
* Observe, assess, and contribute to tracking children's progress and development
* Support children's language, communication, social, and emotional development
* Create and maintain a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
Childcare & Wellbeing
* Provide high standards of care for children within the setting
* Support daily care routines including toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and independence
* Build positive, nurturing relationships with children to support confidence and security
* Support children during routines, transitions, and outdoor learning activities
Inclusion & SEND Support
* Support children with SEND or additional needs under the guidance of the SENCO or management team
* Implement individual support strategies, care plans, and interventions where required
* Promote inclusion, equality, and equal access to learning opportunities for all children
* Work collaboratively with parents/carers and external professionals to support children's individual needs and progress
Safeguarding & Health & Safety
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times
* Maintain awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and welfare procedures in line with statutory guidance
* Follow health, safety, hygiene, and infection control procedures rigorouslyEnsure indoor and outdoor environments are safe, clean, and suitable for children's learning and play
* Report safeguarding or wellbeing concerns promptly in line with nursery policies and procedures
Professional Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with nursery staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
* Maintain accurate records, observations, and learning journals where required
* Prepare and organise learning resources and activities
* Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and nursery policies at all times
* Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development training as required
* Contribute positively to the overall ethos and standards of the nursery setting
Person Specification: Essential Criteria
* Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent recognised qualification
* Experience working within a nursery or early years setting
* Good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
* Ability to support learning through play and child‑led activities
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Caring, patient, and nurturing approach
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
* Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Criteria
* Paediatric First Aid qualification
* Experience supporting children with SEND in an early years settingKnowledge of safeguarding and welfare requirements within EYFS
* Experience completing observations and assessments
* Food Hygiene or relevant childcare training
* Experience supporting personal care routines and behaviour management

* Flexibility to work across different nursery and early years settings within Liverpool and surrounding areas
* Willingness to undertake ongoing EYFS and safeguarding training
* Ability to maintain a professional, positive, and child‑centred approach at all times
