Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

The Defence School of Transport (DST) is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join the Training Pipeline Cell department in the role of Training Pipeline Coordination Manager.

The Defence School of Transport (DST) was formed in 1996 to provide driver and transport management training to personnel from the Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Marines.

The School trains 10,000 service personnel every year, delivering outstanding training on road-going and specialist military vehicles. Training is conducted in classrooms, lecture theatres, demonstration areas, a purpose-built road and cross-country training area and on public roads.

DST can train up to 1,500 personnel at any time making us the largest residential driving school in the World. We are recognised as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ by: DHL, Eddie Stobbart, the US Army, the US Marine Corps and the French Army amongst others.

Job Description

The Defence School of Transport are looking to appoint a highly motivated, hard-working and dynamic individual to lead the Pipeline management Department at the Defence School of Transport. As a successful applicant you will manage the team responsible for the loading and coordination of training courses ensuring the efficient transition of trainees from unit to completion of training.

You will be integral in producing the annual course schedule and will be the focal point for external customers to ensure accurate allocation of Training course places. Once loaded you will be responsible for the management of trainees through multi modular courses ensuring training supply meets demand. This is a dynamic role within the beating heart of the training process.

As part of our ethos of continuous improvement and development, you will also be an essential part of our Continuous Improvement working Group, where collaboration with our Training Deliverers and Standards and Assurance Department will ensure effective output and compliance with policy.

You will be responsible for the management of the Pipeline Cell within the Defence School of Transport. The department is the single point of training management administration from the planning and publishing of course places to qualification award. Within the department an average of 14,000 trainees annually are managed through 101 Wheeled driver training or Transport Management courses. This is a pivotal role ensuring training demands are met though effective collaboration and external engagement.

* Personnel Management of the Training Pipeline Management Department.
* The production of the annual training schedule in conjunction with the Training Plans Department.
* The loading of students onto courses according to allocation; Liaison with external stakeholders and customers regarding course entry standards, eligibility, and other course content as necessary.
