Overview
Part-time on-site/hybrid role for an Accounts and Payroll Assistant located in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The Accounts and Payroll Assistant will be responsible for managing payroll services, payroll administration, payroll management, and payroll taxes. Additionally, the role involves accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. We use Xero for both accounting and payroll.
Hours and flexibility: around 14 hours per week, with flexible delivery (e.g., three school-friendly days, two full office-hour days, or four mornings). Some additional office administration hours may be considered. There is also interest in approaches from individuals wishing to set up their own bookkeeping/payroll business, where we might become an initial client.
Responsibilities

* Maintain financial records and assist in the preparation of financial reports
* Operate using Xero for accounting and payroll tasks
Qualifications
* Experience in UK Payroll Services, Payroll Administration, Payroll Management, and Payroll Taxes
* Solid knowledge of UK accounting principles and practices
* Working knowledge of HMRC PAYE and associated practices
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems
* Previous experience with Xero (UK bookkeeping)
* Desirable: experience with Xero payroll (UK)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Experience in the transportation industry is a plus
* Open to part-qualifications, QBE, AAT and equivalent
