About the Opportunity
The Materials Science and Structural Integrity (MSSI) group are at the forefront of knowledge for our chosen field; leading research, solving critical client challenges and setting industry standards at our research facilities. Our scientists and engineers work across a broad range of structural integrity disciplines spanning metallurgy, materials science, corrosion science, stress analysis, structural integrity analysis/assessment, structural and mechanical engineering, non-destructive examination and advanced manufacturing processes.These services are provided to a range of customers, mainly but not exclusively in the nuclear industry, to ensure the economic and safe operation of capital-intensive plant, from both government and private industry.
Recent work included the development and justification of the performance of bespoke NDE inspections within the nuclear power generation market.
What you will be doing
* Set up equipment and data acquisition for non-destructive testing, and perform inspections, completing assigned tasks to time, cost and quality.
* Contribute to the production of fit-for-purpose deliverables such as technical reports.
* Responsible for timely and accurate completion of own allocated tasks.
* Ensure work is compliant with health, safety, environment, security and quality requirements.
* Pro-actively interact and collaborate with project team and maybe other organisations depending on activity.
Here’s what you’ll need:
* Served a recognised apprenticeship, or equivalent educational experience
* Working towards membership of a professional institution is desirable (Eng Tech)
* Have developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and on-the-job experience
* Communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to work within a team
* PCN level 2 qualification is preferred, though a desire to learn/be qualified is paramount
