Main duties of the job
The Specialist Nurse in Rheumatology will be able to:
·Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care through nurse-led clinics, assessing and managing patients with a broad spectrum of rheumatological conditions.
·Independently manage the rheumatology advice line, providing timely and specialist support to patients and carers, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate triage.
·Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) working, including participation in CQUIN and service development meetings, to ensure coordinated and patient-centred care delivery.
·Collaborate closely with the wider rheumatology team, including consultants, pharmacists, and administrative staff, to track and maintain the biologic prescription flow and monitor therapy effectiveness.
·Support and contribute to the functioning of the Rheumatology Day Unit (RDU), providing clinical input and flexibility to meet changing service demands.
·Provide comprehensive patient education, empowering individuals with knowledge and skills to manage their conditions effectively, including support for new treatments and self-management strategies.
·Demonstrate strong team-working skills, participating in internal and external meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to continuously enhance service standards.
