Fire Alarm Designer – Asset Intelligence

Location - Warrington

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Fire Alarm Designer to join the team Asset Intelligence at Galliford Try.

This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most prestigious frameworks, with a focus on driving project success through effective commercial governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Technical Delivery

1. Develop fire alarm and detection system designs based on client requirements and site surveys
2. Produce detailed design documentation including: Detector layouts, PA/VA systems, and zone drawingsCause & effect, loop schematics, panel layoutsFire strategies and calculations
3. Ensure designs comply with relevant standards ( BS, BS, BS, BS)
4. Value engineer solutions to balance cost-effectiveness with compliance and performance
5. Provide technical input into subcontract design packages and supplier orders

Project & Stakeholder Management

6. Lead or support site visits, surveys, and D model reviews
7. Act as a point of contact for subcontract designers
8. Review subcontractor designs, pricing, and specifications for accuracy and quality
9. Collaborate closely with internal teams to support tender submissions and project delivery
10. Manage design changes and ensure adherence to scope and change control processes

Quality & Compliance

11. Ensure all design processes and procedures are followed
12. Contribute to design management plans and design programmes
13. Support fire accreditation documentation
14. Assist with smooth handover to construction and commissioning teams

About You:

15. Proven experience in fire systems design, including detection, PA/VA, suppression, and fire stopping
16. Strong knowledge of system integration and fire equipment
17. Familiarity with BIM / PAS and navigating D models
18. Experience producing technical documentation (URS/FDS)
19. Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works
20. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
21. ONC / HNC / Degree or NVQ equivalent in a relevant discipline
22. Organised, proactive, and detail-oriented
23. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
24. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
25. Committed to delivering excellent customer service
